I believe that blackmailers are the lowest of the low, the worse kind of people, with no morals. And I find it terribly sad when I hear about people blackmailing their own relatives. It is a fact, it is something happening out of our control. But how can we stop it? Is it ok to meddle in things that don`t concern us? Hmm...
The blackmailer that is a family member is usually using all the other family relationships in order to get what they want. They are egocentric thinking that only their person matter and can even fake a disease in order to escape the consequences of a family argument on the concerning matter.
In order to escape such a situation, I would advise the members to be vigilant regarding the behavior of the blackmailer. They should confront the person with logical arguments, not with violence, also they should listen to that person regarding the reasons why they adopted that behavior in the first place.
Perhaps the help of a specialist would be required, a counselor, a psychologist etc.
Escaping blackmail is like going to rehab. It will benefit the whole family, but in the first place it will benefit the blackmailer, giving up his or her bad habits (cheating and lying to the loved ones) ...
